Community Postcard Writing Party

A “Community Postcard Writing Party”, organized by one of Swannanoa’s favorite ex-Postal Employees, Dan Slagle, is being held this Wednesday at 7pm at terra Nova. The postcards, created by members of the community, will come already addressed to a variety of Postal Officials, as well as Federal, State and Local Representatives. The postcards are part of an ongoing effort to advocate for the return of the Swannanoa Post Office to its home in the valley!

Swannanoa Businesses: Come Together to Build Back Stronger

Head to Okie Dokies Smokehouse, 2375 US Hwy. 70, on Thursday evening, April 24, for a celebration of our Swannanoa business community. This free event takes place from 5-7 p.m., and will feature music, food, beverages, door prizes, and lots of great conversations with business owners and neighbors.

The celebration is sponsored by the Black Mountain-Swannanoa Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the Swannanoa Grassroots Alliance. Food and beverages are being donated by various Black Mountain restaurants, and Black Mountain Massage and Wellness is providing complimentary massage and reiki.

Thank you to Steve and Jody Dunning, owners of Okie Dokies, for offering to host this event at their restaurant. Although they're still recovering from the flood and are not yet open to the public, this event will celebrate the great progress that they, and other Swannanoa business owners, have made since September 27.
